What is Obama's time frame for capturing Osama?
He made a big deal of it during the campaign.
Has anyone heard him mention it again?
Is he ready to bomb Pakistan?

To capture Bin Laden, you have to send troops into Peshwar in Pakistan. To do that without destabilizing a nuclear power and letting their weapons fall into the hands of the pro-taliban party headed by Shariff, you've got to do it with the support of both the military chief and the prime minister, who do not agree. The Prime Minister, Zardari, is weak and holding on to power by a thread over Sharif and in constant fear of a military coup. If he allows the US into the region, he'll almost certainly loose power.
That's why Bush limited himself to a few minor raids and so far, Obama appears to be following suit. Obama is building up troops in Afghanistan, which will probably be used partly along the Pakistani border to help prevent incursions by the Taliban and Al Qaeda who are hiding out there.
So to capture Bin Ladin without creating worse problems, Obama first has to create some changes in the politics of the region. That will probably be easier to do when Bilawal Bhutto Zardari returns from Oxford in a few years, but the region can't really wait that long. However, it will take a while. It's pretty hard to put a time frame on it, but I would like to see Clinton and Obama working within that region more than they appear to be so far, but it's still pretty early. They are just beginning to establish the new US position in international relations.

Just think, if little georgie bush had done his job and gone after him instead of going after his "legacy" in Iraq, it might not be an issue today.
