Washington Post Cartoon - is it racist or promoting violence against the President?

Do you think the political cartoon of the policemen killing the chimpanzee (which was recently in the news) is racist or encouraging people to assassinate the President?

Firstly, get your facts right- it was the New York Post, not the Washington Post.

Secondly, I don't think the cartoon was intentionally racist, and the suggestion that it was intended to encourage people to assassinate Obama is ridiculous and absurd.

I think it was just a case of the cartoonist not thinking about the connotations of the imagery he was using before putting pen to paper.

Similar mistakes have been made before, such as with this Intel ad which the company had to withdraw and apologise for:

and with this Starbucks ad, which was pulled for its alleged similarities to the 9/11 attacks:

    No

It was a timely cartoon relating two news storiees. The shooting of rampaging chimp and the passage of a stimulus bill that seems like it was written by rampaging chimps.

If you looked at the cartoon and saw a black person, then you are the racist.Just because racists have compared black people to racists means no one can ever use chimpanzees in drawings again? Pleez

No. To be honest, the cartoon of the dead monkey did not scream “racism” to me when I saw it. I interpreted the artist to be saying that the stimulus package was so stupid that they must have hired that woman’s chimpanzee to write it. Which is really mean and politically incorrect, but I did not think, “racist”. I’m more surprised that animal rights activists aren’t protesting this, especially since his death was connected to a tragic event.

  • Anti-freedom dictators have cartoonists like Sean Delonas murdered.

That wasn't in the Washington Post--they have better sense and better taste...try the NEW YORK POST!

Only if you secretly believe the president is a monkey...
