Dark Names/ Weird Names?

I'm writing a book, and I'm having a hard time attaching names to my characters.

I'm looking for some dark names, names with dark connotation or meaning. Both female and male.

I'm looking for some slightly weird names, to give to a sub species. The species culture is water-like, and overly cowardly. Both male and female.

Thanks for any help

=)

X could work for you but isn't entirely a stand-out for originality. An obscure and dark sounding Male name could be something like Silas. But it all depends on what the story is about and what your character does and can do etc.

  • I like to use Celtic names because they often sound exotic and dark. There's a long list of them at http://www.babynamebox.com/celtic-baby-names.html and maybe your could somehow incorporate the meaning into the character, I find that usually helps the character grow in personality or "realism"
