You need a wireless network card(adapter) for any computer on

which you want to get wireless internet from your wireless router.

It is basically like radio, the router transmits the internet signal

to your wireless card in your computer.

What it's asking for is a wired connection to the router for the configuration setup. Once you get it configured, you'll be prompted to disconnect the ethernet and connect wireless.
