What happens when Kobe and Lebron use about the same amount of possessions a season?

Lebron James and Kobe Bryant used the same possessions when Kobe was in 06-07 and Lebron was in 05-06.

Now, Kobe and Lebron had free reign with those possessions. They could pass them up, they could shoot them, or lose them in a turnover.

Lebron tallied 48 more points (but that would have changed if Kobe played 3 more games). Lebron assisted 100 more times, and Lebron shot a better FG%. With all those assists Lebron tallied...he only beat out Kobe by 10 turnovers. WOW.

Another thing, we all know that Kobe is the better shooter, but why fault a guy that plays to his strengths? You don't see people whining over Shaq not having a jumper.

BOTH players didn't have a suitable 2nd man. Kobe's Lakers got $hitcanned by the Suns. Lebron's Cavs? They got annihilated by the Pistons a round more than those Lakers.

Update:

darknicrofian...you realize that Magic Johnson holds the Lakers record more most assists averaged right?

your question (if it IS even a question) is invalid, first and foremost, you would need to look at the type of offense the Lakers and the Cavaliers run.

The Lakers run a triangle offense, which dictates that no player hold onto the ball for more than 5 seconds in a half court set that isn't a called/designed isolation and/or pick and roll. Phil Jackson's teams has never produced a player that averaged more than 10 assists per season, no single player holds onto the ball long enough to dish out that many times.

The Cavaliers on the other hand, is simply put, surround Lebron James with the best players that give them a chance to win, in other words, Bigs that can play isolation and get offense rebounds *Anderson Varejao and Zydrunas Ilgauskas* along with shooters than Lebron can dish to when hes rolling to the basket *every other single person in their entire roster*

P.S. I don't even know what it is that you're asking.

Lakers does no longer win the call. Phil Jackson runs a triangle offense - an equivalent possibility. Lebron is extra of a %., and then he will run to the basket. that isn't paintings for Phil Jackson and the Lakers. They use isolation lots.. definite Cavs nonetheless lose to Boston. Lebron extra healthful extra acceptable with Cleveland the Kobe ever could with the Cavs.

Please, for all the nonsense, stop using numbers, because I don't want to get started.

You have to take the fact that Big Z was statistically better than Bynum and Brown combined in that 06-07 year.

In that year, Kobe was the only Laker active and alive.

    LBJ had Big Z.

I think we need to interview Lebron again. Needs to tell his fans that Kobe is better for the 4th time. I think he had an interview last sunday. Not even Lebron can get through to his own fans.

They are passing the ball more often now thatn before, kobe has Gasol and Odom, LBJ has Mo. i think they will meet in the finals.

  • You know whats funny? I've seen all of those interviews with Lebron James. He always says Kobe is the best player in the league. What is he supposed to say? No, I'm better?

All of those interviews are old, ask him this year. He doesn't say Kobe is the BEST player in the league anymore, he says ONE of the BEST. I follow Lebron pretty closely, I watch all of his interviews. Listen carefully, he's done putting himself down.

I would rather have the ball in Lebrons hands. Man those are some interesting statistics!
