what could i add to my pasta to bring out more flavor?

tonight i made a pasta with: wheat spaghetti noodles, scallops, scallions, mushrooms, red sweet pepper, garlic, ginger, lime juice, italian seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic pepper, parsley, and then milk, flower, oil, water, (for the sauce). it was ok but it still bland. it tasted like there was something missing. i used some Parmesan cheese too. any ideas what i can do differently tomorrow? this was geared towards being a more healthy dish.

thats sounds pretty good, except for the milk yuk. maybe less is more also

you have ginger with garlic which may be overpowering. also parsley is very strong especially if its dried.

I love my sauce which is why I never eat pasta when out in restaurants! and I use regular ground beef browned then drained off the fat (no need for lean which costs alot more!) 2 cans of generic sauce no additives, fresh garlic, 1 large can of chunked or diced tomatoes, 1 can of tom paste, 1 large diced white onion, fresh cremini mushrooms, fresh sea salt and fresh ground pepper, italian seasoning to taste, then I add 3 or 4 browned (on a skillet) garlic or mild italian sausages which I cut up into 3rds and put into sauce to finish cooking (this also sweetens up the sauce, and balances the acid from the tomatoes) you can also add red or green peppers if you like. YUM we should have pasta night together! lol I have great red wine also and crusty french bread MMMMMMMMMM good luck let me know how it turns out. my nick name at yahoo dot com

Since you lastly mentioned "healthy" then you may not want to try this, but...add some sauteed sweet onion, bacon or bacon bits and a good amount of smoky, sweet paprika. Leave out the lime juice, milk and flour. Yum! Oops, forget to mention adding in some chili powder.

heat the sauce up first coat the pot with evoo (extra virgin olive oil) pour the sauce in , mix in some parm cheese minced garlic salt and pepper and oregano bring to a small bubble best is when the pasta is done in a large pot add the pasta and sauce and let them simmer together for a bit the pasta will absorb the flavor of the sauce

Try adding another cheese to your sauce like a gorgonzola or a feta to make it a little more interesting. It also helps to cook with fresh garlic rather than a powder and also fresh herbs if you have them on hand.

Try to spice it up with fresh herbs. They will make the difference.

Add crumbled crispy pancettta or prosciutto if you have it, otherwise crispy bacon will do.
