First download avast4home http://www.avast.com/ install it,update it ,download malwarebytes antimalware http://www.malwarebytes.org,install/ and update. Then look in your drive C/program files and search for McAfee folder it probably was previously installed and then removed,if the folder of an anti virus program is still on the computer even if it's not active,it will not let you install a new program. Then start your computer in safe mode after you disable your sistem restore.Let avast scan in boot and all infected files will be moved in virus chest. From there you can securely delete them. Then scan with malwarebytes and everything will be ok.

You may have to go to another computer and get these two programs:
SuperAntiSpyware; Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. If you can use a USB flash drive, put them on it and run them from there. A lot of the newer trojans monitor the common AV programs and either terminate them or prevent downloads for them. This helps avoid that.
You should probably disable system restore, and then boot in safe mode with networking support to run those two programs.

I hate to say this but if you don't have the ability to do these tasks in windows such as remove programs or go into safe mode using the admin profile I don't see you have a chance of successfully reformatting anything. I would suggest to goto a computer repair shop or pay Norton. It is going to get a bit hairy for you to fix this if you don't have the proper knowledge. You can try getting avast or AVG works well for me and scanning with that after updates.

Start your computer up in safe mode, with networking, then download the latest updats. Run the program in safe mode then when it has you reboot, it will come up in n ormal mode. Run the program one more time in normal mode.
To come up in safe mode, hit F8 repeatedly until it goes into the selection screen. Pick safe mode with networking so it will be able to get to the internet for updates to your program. Also, there is a free program called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware that is free and will wipe out all of them. It's worth a look.

WHAT THEY DIDN'T TELL YOU! when a virus file runs it does it in the background invisibly ruining. the most effect way to scan and remove this is to run your computer in safe mode while scanning. this is because in safe mode all files applications are not permitted to run in this mode. this way if your Scanner picks up on a virus it can remove it without windows saying this is a current ruining application and is protected delete not allowed windows will not Primat you with this message but that's what it will be doing in the background. so run in safe mode then scan.
Source(s): RUNING IN SAFE MODE restart the pc while keep pressing F8 your computer will launch the boot menu choose run in safe mode. when your done scaning just restart your pc as normal. good luck. - ragingmkLv 61 decade ago
First thing to do is to determine which virus you have on your pc. Once you have that information use another PC to find the fix for it on the internet. You will also need to turn off system restore because it is likely that the virus has been backed up into there as well. Once your machine is clean switch system restore back on and get yourself a better antivirus solution.

do no longer empty your virus vault; do no longer delete that quarantined meant virus-containing record. i exploit AVG and after a modern get carry of, it got here across a commonplace.5 downloader--in advert conscious's 2007 setting up record. i've got faith this to be a fake valuable--they happen with any anti-virus courses (particular, AVG could locate better than others; I nevertheless use AVG). once you're saying that comp isn't working appropriate, do you advise that the subject arose basically after AVG positioned this in its virus vault? if so, and if this could be a fake valuable, then you definately will could desire to restoration that record from the Virus Vault. until now you do, attempt a splash analysis (or positioned up the particular record it particularly is in quarantine and ask approximately it right here) to attempt to be sure how probable that is that for the duration of certainty that is risk-free. If AND given which you establish that that is risk-free, and opt to restoration it: appropriate-click the AVG icon on your equipment tray and launch the AVG administration midsection. click to concentration on the Resident guard and then click the properties button in the decrease appropriate nook there. click to uncheck the field to coach on the Resident guard. Then click to concentration on the Virus Vault and open it. appropriate-click on the record in question and decide to restoration it. (in case you're provided the choice to ignore approximately it in scans, pick that decision too.) ensure you practice your Resident guard back on! by utilising the way, my AVG no longer looks to think of that advert conscious's 2007 setting up record is contaminated.

The best thing against a virus is to get a extenal hdd and then put everything important on it and then reformat your computer. Even when you do remove a virus, it can come back if not completely removed and that is hard to do.
As you have the external hdd make copies of things and save it on the external that way you have a back up, its the easiest and simple way to save your stuff, reformation is just part of having windows.
