I'm only 15, But why am I getting such horrible cramps?

Women & Doctors: I really need your help! please?

I'm 15. I've had my period for just about 3 years now. It was usually always on time and stuff. & Now it's changed completely.

3 days before Christmas Eve, I got my period 2 days early. I got horrible horrible horrible[!!!] stomach pains that felt somewhat like the worst cramps ever. I then had to go to the hospital a few days later because it hurt so much I couldn't sleep or do anything at all.

Last Month, my period came 2 days early. And I got my horrible horrible stomach/cramps pain back again.

This month, my period came 3 days late. I woke up crying because the pain hurt so much. I put a heating pad and took some advil but it didn't help until I took NyQuil to help my cough. and that made my tired. Last week in my class, they came and I almost started crying. My teacher noticed and gave me some midol to take.

I mean nothing really helps at all! I've taken advil, midol, tried the hot baths, heating pads, and I exercise too!

My mom knows and she thinks I need to get some medical help as in seeing a gynecologist or my regular doctor. Is this the best thing to do? And what could help stop these from coming back? [birth control, what?]

I know I posted this before, but I need opinions on what people think I should do. because I'm so scared to go to the doctor ! ):

I almost always had very bad cramps, starting at 12 when I first got my period. They were somewhat "bearable" usually with some heating pads and meds. I had my son when I was 15 and my periods magically became almost painless until I was 19. All of a sudden one month I got my period for 2 weeks with excruciating pain. I went to the doc and had an ultrasound done where they found small cysts on my ovaries which are normal but they ruled them as the reason for the pain. I continued to have 2 week on / 2 week off periods for about 4 months until I went to a better doctor and he switched my birth control to something stronger to keep the cysts from forming. Cysts form when you ovulate, and being on birth control for years prior I shouldn't have been getting them in the first place since birth control is supposed to prevent ovulation.

You may have ovarian cysts which can at times be very painful, even if they are tiny. Birth control would probably be the first step to take to try to alleviate the pain and cramping. Some pills have a higher level of hormones which can make the side effects worse, so if you do choose to go on BC you might want to start with a low-dose type of pill.

You should start seeing a gyno regularly now, even though you may not be sexually active its still a good idea to get a yearly exam to make sure everything down there is ok. Good luck. :)

You should see the Doctor just to be sure nothing is wrong. Ask Him/Her for an Rx for an anti inflammatory for the pain. Ponstant is a good one for menstrual cramps. Some people have good results with the pill but others it is worse than without it!! As strange as it sounds try to exercise thru them, the hormones & endorphins that the exercise produce seem to help the pain. There are some herbal remedies out there that I've heard work well but I don't have the names sorry (kinda think it was something primrose but I'm not sure, so check it out with a registered natural path doctor FIRST).

I'm sorry hon but your going to have to go to the doctor. Have you never been to a Gynecologist before? They've seen thousands of other women and it's not like you should be embarrassed. And you're whole appointment will be over in 15 minutes or so and she might really, really help! Please just go see her. You'll learn that it's no as bad as it seems.

Ive had pretty awful cramps myself, however, they usually subside as long as I take some form of ibuprofen. If your menstrual crams are continuously unbearable, you need to go to your doctor. It could be a medical condition (even minor) that needs attention. The doctor doesnt have to be a scary place.

many many women experience what you have described. it happens all the time. as you get older the cramps shouldnt be as severe. if they are then you should really think about seeing a doctor. but sometimes it just happens and theres no way to help

Some people are just like that. My mom and sister get no cramps but im dying for three days!! It's normal.

Its normal. I've been that way for 3 1/2 years. Try eating more soy or calcium products, it sometimes helps me. I try to relax to, maybe stress causing it.

I know of women having cramps like that. There could not be anything wrong with you. Every woman is different.

Maybe you have PCOS but we don't know what could be wrong with you. You need to go to the doctor though, so you can get help.

Maybe you should go see the doc. and maybe ask for some Birth Control for hormone regulation, or ask for pain relievers.
