partition the disk.
an unpartitioned disk is useless and wont be recognized by ur pc
go here:
start> control panel (classic view)> administrative tools> computer management
a new window wil appear
select "disk management" on the left of the new window
select the unpartitioned space (usually represented by black lines).
right click it and then select format.

Hi,
It could be a problem with Windows not assigning a drive letter for the drive.
Try this:
1) Right Click 'my computer'
2) Select 'Manage'
3) Select 'Disk Management'
4) Right Click on specific harddrive
5) Select "Change Drive letters and paths"
6) Select a other drive letter which isn't listed in 'my computer'
7) I usually choose something like 'X', 'Y' or 'Z' just to make sure.
Hope this helps.
If not, check if the harddrive shows "healthy' which means the partition is OK. If not try formatting the drive by right clicking the drive and pressing 'format'. Use NTFS file system with default size.

youll need to format the disk. go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management then disk management then youll see the list of hard drives connected to the computer disk 0, disk 1, disk 2 and so on find the one thats black in color rather than blue or look at the size of the drive and right click the hard drive and choose new partition and itll pop a menu to format the partition for the hard drive then it should show up in my computer and you can then use it. all new hard drives need to be formated before you can actually use them just make sure to set the jumpers the jumpers are the pins one the hard drive with a plastic piece which covers two of them on the hard drive it shows where to set jumpers to set it as slave or master set the 2nd hard disk as slave

You should adjust your new hard disk's jumper settings to Slave. And then connect the Slave IDE plug and the power supply plug on the socket on the back of your hard disk. But if you do not know what to do or if you are not sure how to do it, try to ask for help to the member or worker of the computer shop where you bought your second internal hard disk and ask them to connect your hard disk to your computer. I hope, iv helped your problem.

Set the jumper to appropriate setting i.e master or slave you can even change via setup go to setup in boot device set which ever you want to boot from as the primary boot device. Then boot windows if your hard disk is not formatted you wont be able to access it and you'll get the option of formatting it...easy peasy

if it is a brand new hard disk you may need to format the drive which can only be done in bios, the other thing is to make sure that the hard disk is not faulty and is compatable with you motherboard and make sure all of you leads are plugged in and it is running as a slave drive ( to find out how to make this drive become a slave drive read the label on the hard disk itself as all hardisks are different)

set the jumper settings. Ist harddisk as Primary Master and the second 1 as Slave
or remove the new hard disk's jumper.
Then check CMOS settings.

Make sure your second Hard disk is in slave mode. Set the jumber settings properly for the slave mode
