Musicians- Has this ever happened to you before ?
I just started a new part time job, and all of a sudden, my piano playing has gone downhill ! I'm making a lot of stupid mistakes and break downs in my playing when I practise . The day before I started my work I was playing fine with shape, phrasing, and dynamics flowing continuosly-
I guess its true that they say- your playing is very strongly affected by the state of mind, but to make mistakes like these is - such a Huge Gap compared to my better days - is Simply Unbelievable.. Its wierd, I know.
Could it be that my hectic work schedule is getting in the way of musicality ?
Has this every happen to you before?

Yup !! You're not the only one. We all have our bad days, sometimes they turn into whole weeks !! As a guitarist I call it "stuck in the rut".I find myself hacking tunes that I have been playing for years, and there is no reason to suck this bad..lol..I usually catch myself playing with no emotion, that's my big hang up that leads to mistakes, because I'm not just letting it flow from me like I should.
I defeat this rut by playing something that is so far out of the norm for me that I actually do bust out of the rut in the process. Classical usually does it for me.Sometimes it's best for me to put it down for a couple minutes and walk away, and come back fresh.Hang in there, you're not alone, and don't give up !!

You're probably just not as concentrated and you're probably stressed...don't freak out, it's probably temporary.
