Do people really want this country to tank rather than give Obama a chance?

Republicans have no answers except to give corporate America and the rich more money. It has never worked before and won't now. Why can't they open up to the notion they have been wrong and we need to try this new idea?

Update:

Original ganster is just like the rest of the GOP. No answers!

Update 2:

You guys are soooo off base! You don't mind socialism when it's paying every city, county, state and federal worker's health care. You don't mind when YOUR congressman gets you earmarks for your state with my money. Wake up!

Many Republicans want to see the country fail under Obama just so they can say "i told you so..." like little children. They expect Americans to believe that what their government under Bush did for the last 8 years will bring us out of this decline when in fact, it is the reason we're in it. Just tax-cuts, and giving corporate America/the rich more money, like you said, won't solve anything, as seen in the past. They fail to acknowledge any wrong on their part and have no answers. Hopefully, some Republican leaders will come around in the future, and try Obama's plan.

Holbrook Lives!: If you really had a BA in History you would know that FDR helped bring the country OUT of the Great Depression. You say with FDR, the Depression lasted over a decade. But without him, it might have lasted 3 decades.

Holbrook Lives!:"new stuff" doesn't necessarily mean correct. And i would love to see your proof that "most historians and economists" agree with what you're saying.

According to OBAMA, his plan WILL hurt the economy - a LOT. Why do you insist on giving THAT a chance?

Republicans don't "give corporate America and the rich" ANY money. That's just the Democrat LIE used to obfuscate their own contempt for the idea of letting them KEEP any.

Obama has presented exactly ZERO "new" ideas. 100% of his agenda is already tried and proven - to tank economies.

Republicans want to STOP that above other considerations. Their own "ideas," are nothing more than observing what history has long proved to work and giving THOSE things "a chance."

I know, as a Democrat you are pathologically unable to believe this but try. Maybe it will sink in one day: If you look at what has ALREADY been done and do it again, you get the SAME result, not the opposite. Obama and 100% of the Democrat Congressional Caucus claim that's a retarded idea; that if you do the same thing again - THIS time you'll get the opposite result. Democrat fiscal policy has ALWAYS been based on this assumption and still is.

So the answer is to give to the unmotivated, unwilling to better themselves from the paychecks of the taxpayer???

    OK.....

That will not work either and soon the USA won't be working either.

Neither side has the solution because they are a bunch of rich elitists who do not get budgets, jobs or America's working class.

You can blame one side but America is a multi party country and no one has stepped up to this challenge even Obama. Get over it.

I am coming from a independant perspective, not a Republican one. I did not vote for Bush and I did not think he was a good president.

Having made my disclaimer, let me answer your question.

I have worked hard and paid taxes all of my life. Of course I would love it if President Obama had a succesful presidency and the economy recovered. I would have no problem saying "I was completely wrong, what a fool I was to doubt President Obama"

The fact of the matter is his plan sucks. It's going to screw the middle class more than anyone and put more money into the pockets of people who choose not to work at the expense of thos who do.

We do need to try a new idea. But not this one.

All of Obama's policies are what will tank America. If you are already $12 trillion in debt, you don't get out of debt by going another $6 Trillion in debt. Obama's might stop 3 million jobs from being lost, but it is only temporary. These jobs should not exist and need to be lost to get the economy back into balance. The second Obama stop directly paying for these jobs they will disappear because the market will not support them. So he has only 2 options: let them disappear which will hurt him politically, or continue to rack up debt paying for these artificial jobs, which will hurt him politically.

The Republicans don't have an answer either. The only people with an answer are the libertarians. That answer is to get the government out of the economy entirely since it is unconstitutional. The only thing that can save us is free markets, not government regulations, government spending, and government monopolies.

Okay, one more time... the problem the libs have is they just do not get it... they cannot fathom the key element... HIS PLANS WILL NOT WORK, in fact, his plans, if he is given a chance, WILL tank our Economy... that is the fundamental issue... they recognize what his intent is... libs just see some sort of delusion.

They are so focused on "change" that they either didn't comprehend WHAT that means, OR, and this is the worst.. they don't WANT the US to succeed... they WANT socialism, they want a NEW Country... but hey, I'll bet that doesn't happen... socialism never worked, nor does the left wing ideology... look in a mirror and be honest... by the way, that mirror? It was likely made by one of those corporations you despise, and by a worker who EARNED money making it... totally anathema to lib delusions....

Take the rich away, take the corporations away... who the f is going to employ you? Provide the ability to EARN A PAYCHECK?????

Yep... that is what we know, and libs don't understand... and obama and his handlers are counting on YOUR ignorance to overshadow true Patriotism.. good luck with that... it is not going to work.

The left gets answers all the time... they just don't agree, or like them... so they ignore the facts.

"Republicans have no answers except to give corporate America and the rich more money." This statement is full of so many logical fallacies, it should not be answered. Please tell me your source of where you pulled the information that republicans give corporate America and the rich more money... and so what if they do...Who is paying most of America's salary? If rich people are making more money, then they are keeping people employed, and there spending that money they make and putting back in the economy. Obam's Plan has some good points to it, I have to say...but Democrat's are saying that the stimulus package is only 2-3% pork. That means we are spending 16-24 billion on pork. That is a lot of pork even it is 2-3%.

This is not a new idea. Communism has been around for quite some time. It doesn't work out to well. Everything is a GREAT IDEA!!! (like communism) ....but does it actually work.

And Dims want to give all the money to the poor...and since you are probably under the age of 21...Obama's plan has been tried before by FDR during the Great Depression, it failed several times and was responsible for the US staying in the Depression for over a Decade...just food for though, did you know the unemployment rate is only a few tenths of a point higher than it was under Clinton and the DOW is now down to Clinton's levels...and it is no where near as bad as it was under Carter...but Dims say Clinton was great...so which is it...is it bad now, or was it bad then? But Lord Obama says it gonna be ok...yea right...

EDIT: ZARI or whatever...if we are right Obama and the Dims are gone for a long time too...like they were since the mid 90's...

EDIT: V...if you actually studied History you would know WWII got us out of the Depression...most Historians and Economist now agree the "New Deal" prolonged the Depression...maybe it is time you read some new stuff not that crap you learn in High School...

I do not believe the Obama plan will work and history is on my side in this. You see your problem is that you just cannot seem to realize the simple fact that Obama's ideas are not new. They have been tried not only in this country, but others as well and have failed in every instance. The Republicans are not proposing giving money to the rich or corporate America. They are proposing that Americans be allowed to keep more of their money and spend it as they deem fit, not based on the government perception of how it should be spent. It is not I who desires the failure of this country, it is Obama who insists on following a failed ideology. I will not willingly go along regardless of how many Democrats try uselessly to shame me into it. Fiscal responsibility by government is the only sound course and it is 180 degrees opposite of what Obama is trying to do.

People do not want his country to tank at all.

Spending 700 Billion in his first 8 weeks in office is more than Bush spent in 8 years. Over 9,000 earmarks in the "stimulus" and he said he would not tolerate earmarks. Blame it on Bush and the Republicans for as long as possible is not a good strategy. I do not want to be a socialist country with Big Government taxing me and deciding what I should do. Hoover raised taxes (on the wealthy) as soon as he got into office and the country sank deeper into the great depression. Hopefully we can last 4 years.
