alright, so my best friend is being disowned by his dad (basically hes getting kicked out). he's been a really good friend for a few years, and i want to tell him he could just stay at my place for awhile. he told me he was just going to live on his own at another friends old house which nobody is living in, and he has no car. we both are juniors in high school, and we go to school on the other side of town, and he has no way of getting to school now.

i was wondering what to do. i have a free bed at my place, but im not sure how he'll react if i tell him he can live with me for awhile.

basically i just want your opinion on the situation on what i should do, and how should i do it. please.

I think it's sweet of you to be there for your friend. It's a good idea if it's okay with your family. You can say, just until he gets back on his feet. If he doesn't want to, you gave it a try. Its the thought that really does count. Also, there are shelters for homeless teenagers. If one is in your town, it would be better. Hope this helps and good luck for you both.

Well you really should mention it to your parents before you go too far.  But usually the line is, "Hey man, why don't you just crash at my place?"

It's pretty hard to survive alone without income.  He may have to look into a part time job.  If he is willing to pay your parents even a little, they probably wouldn't have a problem with him staying in the spare room even until he graduates.  If that isn't a possibility he may have to alternate between the houses of a several different friends.  But if he can do it, colleges will hand him a lot of financial aid.
