Questions about a really early period?
I've just started what seems like a period (although a bit different to usual), but my last one was less than two weeks ago! So basically I've got these questions:
1) Is it a period and why could it be so early?
2) Is it likely to be lighter/not last as long as a normal period?
3) When can I expect my next one (will the cycle start again from now, will it be a long gap to make up for the time or can I expect them to keep coming early?)
I know it's probably down stress or whatever but I'm a bit freaked out by it! Thank you.
I'm 21 btw and my periods have been completely regular for at least 5 years.

1) The most likely explanation for your early period is a 'hormonal hiccup', this is very common and happens to some women from time to time- even if it hasn't happened before. It is nothing to worry about and you only need to see your Doctor if this starts happening on a regular basis.
2) It could be like a normal period or simply a light bleed/spotting. There is no real way of knowing, you will have to wait and see.
3) If it seems like a little bleed (break-through bleed or spotting), then count day of your period from the first day of your last period (before this episode). If this bleed turns out to be a proper period then count this as your period that has come early and count day one as today- so your next period will be approx 28 days from today.
It's likely you will still come on when you are next supposed to.

1. I would say its stress. Some lucky women MISS their periods when they are stressed...but not me. I usually start bleeding a week early if i am really stressed during that point in time. So yes, it could be your period and it is most likely stress. However it is not uncommon for the body to just do its own thing sometimes for no reason! periods can usually be unusual if that makes any sense!
2. When it happened to me it was very light and it almost went away until my regular period came, then it was back full force. So i would say it is likely to be lighter than normal.
3. I think your next one will just start when it usually does. At least thts what happened to me. And it doesnt happen very often. but maybe your body is just switching its schedule. When i was a teenager my period would come a few days early every time, so every month it was different, yet it only lasted for the one week. It was terrible, i couldnt make any plans around my period because i never knew when it was going to come! Then i got on birth control...yet even then it seems to have its own agenda sometimes.
I would say dont worry unless you start feeling any other symptoms like pain or anything. then you should probably be checked out. GOOD LUCK!

hey, first of all, if your young and have been having periods for not that long, then there's nothing to worry about. It will probably take ages for your periods to get into a proper routine, everyones bodies are totally different. Even if you are not that young, its probably nothing to worry about. Im 19 and have been getting periods for about 4 years now, and mine still arent into a proper routine, so i really wouldnt worry. Iv been on and off the pill a few times sinces starting my periods, which made mine really irregular. If your periods arent in a routine yet then going on the pill does steady them out and make them less heavy. But just dont do what i done, and go on the pill then off it, then on it, then off it again... that will mess it up a bit more lol :) x
