Why is MS Picture Editor turning My pictures Red?

Any time I hit save after doing any modification to the pic in the picture editor, even re-sizing it, the picture looks fine and then when I hit "save" or "save as" it puts a reddish tint on the picture. If you then go back and try to adjust the saturation to pull that tint out and hit "save" again, it makes it even MORE red. Additional edits just continue doing the same. It did not used to do this with the same type of images and I have changed computers and it is still doing the same thing. What the heck is going on?

It might be because the image has a transparency in it and it might be messing up the colors
