If you don't have classes in the field of photography, I'd say, you should get a notebook. It will be more useful for a student. Honestly, I prefer HP than the brands you just mentioned.

For me personally I would go with the DSLR. A netbook wouldn't give me enough options, I'd rather have all the functions of a laptop, but if you go with it choose Acer.

You should get the one that you are going to use the most. of course net books are considerable cheaper than a D-SLR, and the do completely different things....so its kinda weird you are trying to compare them.
