depends not just on resume of the artist...but also their potential of having an importance in art history and the paintings size.
If you think it's fantastic take that into consideration. Frankly if the artist doesn't know what to ask the painting likely isn't worth much to the industry (albeit it is to you).

It would depend on the reputation of the artist.
If the artist is unknown, perhaps £50-£100; but it wouldn't surprise me to hear a figure £200-£300. Not knowing any more detail, that's about the best I can say.
Really, its value is whatever anyone is prepared to pay for it; which is no real help to you, of course.

unknown name - start at £200. People will not value anything less even for the tiniest of paintings.
known name, depends on size.
8x10 inches can go for $1000.
look at other artists with similar cv's and quality of art to your own to get an idea of how to price your work if that's what you are hoping to obtain.
good luck
