Yeah there does seem to be a hole. Maybe as someone else said, Black American women do tend to be overweight which is a no no in high fashion. And many of us just aren't "exotic" looking enough. Also it seems like modeling agencies and advertisements are really pushing natural hair. I have seen more black women with natural hair in ads recently than I have seen in real life. And maybe foreign models are more likely to have the "big curly hair" they are looking for right now?

I don't know how many of them are American but it's worth a look. She updates daily.

I'm not really seeing the big deal about what nationality they are. Jaimacan, Dominican, Brazailian, Ethiopian, American, Haitian, Ghanian. I'm happy as long as there are some Black models from the African diaspora repping. To see all these black faces is great in an industry that is notoriously bigoted.

Veronica Webb, Beverly Johnson- they were major in their day- but, the younger ones I can't call by name...just watch a few videos. Their all over the place. and they are American.

Melissa Ford( I think) - Eva Pigford. The thing about AA models, is they are not shaped like boards- so it is probably not as easy for them- they actually have **** and booty.But Tyra is putting PLENTY on the map.

add: but, out of all of them, African, british and whatever else- it is the AA who did it BIG when it was all said and done. Go Tyra.

Modeling has nothing to do with looks, 90% of models are ugly regardless of race.

Even the African Models(in my opinion are ugly).

I've seen MANY beautiful african women, but they will not put them as models, Tyra said it has to do with "uniqueness".

Psshhhh, i just think most are ugly :P
