According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cronyism , "Cronyism is partiality to long-standing friends, especially by appointing them to positions of authority, regardless of their qualifications".

Under EEOC, cronyism is an adequate defence pertaining to employment discrimination.

Not by any that I am familiar with...

even thought... it probably should be covered by some regs of some sort... Because it DOES play a major role in the conditions that are in play within tens of thousands of work situations.....and, it affects the circumstances within the work environment negatively... and, causes untold stress on numerous people who have to bear up under the conditions that it causes ...

Anyone who is on the adverse side of cronyism should slit their manager's throat and leave them to bleed to death on the office floor.

Nope, nothing illegal about it, and definitely not covered by any EEOC rules.
