Will the people's vote be overruled in California next week?

The voice of the people of California has finally been heard!

However, next week is March, and the Leftist Machine wants to "ReVisit" the referendum that was passed by the votes of the Vast Majority of the People of California. Do You Think the California Government will overturn the will of the people using some Tyrannical Dictatorial ruling?

Update:

Okay, some people are slow so I will clarify: will the CA Government abide by the judicial system, or will they mandate against the people? (I am not asking if you agree with fascism, I am asking if you think they will be fascists)

Leftists want Californians to keep voting until they "get it right". If they never "get it right", leftists will legislate from the bench.

The people of California CANNOT overturn the Federal Constitution. Period. If the court finds that the referendum violates the Constitution, that law must go. That's the way it works.

Besides, you really don't want to be pushing that "will of the people" crap. Our system is set up to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. A couple other examples of "the will of the people": slavery, womens' inability to vote or own property, segregation, etc.

And if you're comparing this situation to fascism, you really need to revisit high school civics.

Are you kidding? "Vast Majority?" It was passed with only 52% percent of the vote.

Anyway, Prop 8 was an amendment to the Equal Protection Clause of the California constitution, therefore it should have required a 2/3 vote.

I hope the courts strike Prop 8 down.

You obviously misunderstand the meaning of having a Constitution.

If the "will of the people" enacts a law...say like slavery...and it is against the Constitution, then it should not stand.

So get used to the idea of having your oppressive views of what is right and wrong overturned

    Too many capital letters.

Not actually a "vast majority," anyway. Not if you use math.

    But yeah, they will.

On the other hand... that's how the other side works, too. We both do that when it's convenient, and get upset when the other side does it.

It'd be funny if it wasn't sad.

Just goes to show you that the majority is not always right. It's a matter of law, not religion or emotion.

It wasn't that long ago that "the will of the people" was that interracial marriage shouldn't be legal. Fortunately, we have courts to ensure that the will of the people doesn't infringe on fundamental civil rights.

I agree with allowing gays to be married, but if the people voted against it (directly) then CA should leave it alone for awhile.
