Cowboys Agree To A Deal With?

Former Falcons linebacker Keith Brooking for three years.

So they picked up an aging, former Pro Bowl linebacker; just not Ray Lewis.

Cowboys fans (and haters), is this a good move? I'm thinking this is just Zach Thomas all over again.

Update:

Right you are, Bevo. The Cowboys signed a player with a wife and kids and is heavily involved in charity work.

What fun can the haters have with that?!

I think the same thing. We have to have somebody, though. With the money that DWare is gonna get we don't have a lot to spend on big name FAs. Also, we don't have a first round pick. Zach Thomas almost certainly will not be back next season, and neither will Chris Canty.

The Cowboys haters are giving us our deserving thumbs down. Thanks, haters!

I think its a good move. They couldnt have afforded Lewis and still signed Ware. It definetly could be a move like the Zach Thomas thing was an never panned out but I think its a good move. They also brought in John Kitna today an let Anthony Henry go. Kitna is class as well and Henry did nothing last year. I dont know how Carpenter fits into this mix but I think he is horrible. I think at this point they have made upgrades. Kitna just threw for 4,000 yards a few years ago an is familiar with Roy Williams and he is a definite upgrade. Brooking is a hard worker for sure

I never thought Linebacker was a problem with the Cowboys. I haven't watched Brooking in a couple years, but he was never as good as Thomas when I watched him. He seemed like a natural outside backer in the 4/3, so I am not sure he really fits the cowboys scheme. I would have taken Ray Lewis. The guy has 2 or 3 more good years, even at 70% he is a pro bowler.

They Will Probably say he's some kind of Goody-Goody.

Thing is the Franchise is a Big Contributor to the Salvation army, and there are several current and Former Cowboys that do lots of charity work.

Haters will just have to go on trash talking with their mis-information and double talk, Which only makes the haters look like Idots, so they only hurt themselves.

Yeah, I think this is worst then Zach Thomas. They'res no way that Keith Brooking will do as well as Ray Lewis would but hey what ever you know... It Jerry Jones team let him manage it ..

As a true New York Giants fan, probably. If you Wowboys had Ray Lewis, uhoh. But this guy from Atlanta? Puhleeze. Maybe if this guy isn't another Owens loudmouth, it could work out okay, but aging means he'll be burnt about as bad as the safety Roy Williams in coverage. Great move from my perspective, but shaky move for America's team.

hes way better then zach thomas was coming in. he wont be a great player like he used to be but he'll be effective. and thats wat they are looking for an effective veteran to come in til the can get some top notch linebackers in the draft in the next couple of years. this is a good move til they find some stud linebackers.

I don,t think Ray Lewis was ever seriously concidered...everyone knows Ray Lewis can only be sucessful in Baltimore, Ray knows it too, he'll re-sign with the Ravens and protect his legacy here in Baltimore.

I don't know how much he signed for but they got who they wanted. (an aging player probably past his prime). He's 33 years old .COME ON? did we really expect anything else? Al Davis (I mean Jerry Jones) is not gonna change.

I agree with you. They should of signed Lewis. Brooking is average at best. He blew coverage against the Cardinals on 3rd and 16. Lewis wouldn't of done that.
