Buy or sell.... Eminem is the most overrated rapper ever?

Sell... Eminem is not overrated. He deserves all the praises as a rapper people give him. Because he's a lyrical rapper and a great story teller. Even though his music hasn't been great over the years he's still a pretty good rapper. Marshal Mather LP is his only classic? What's wrong with that. Most rappers don't even have classics.... And Most rappers only have one classic. I think he's the top 20 of all time definately.

I think that all rappers are overrated/underrated to a certain extent and it's hard to get how good a rapper is dead on. I know it's already been said but Jay-Z and Lil' Wayne are definitely the most overrated rappers out there. I agree that they are both good but both have been called the "greatest rapper alive" which I completely disagree with. I don't think that Em is really overrated, just listen to his lyrics they are very impressive and he has a LOT of classics.

Someone else has already said that most rappers don't have too many huge albums. Em has more good albums that the Marshall Mathers LP but that IS his best just like All Eyez on Me is 'Pac's best, Doggystyle is Snoop's best, 36 Chambers is Wu-Tang's best, Illmatic is Nas best, etc. All of these rappers have a lot more than one great album but they all have one defining album. Marshall Mathers LP was Em's defining album but he has other great albums.

I don't think that Em is better than Big, Pac, Nas, Cube, Meth, or Rakim but no doubt he is an amazing rapper but I think that it really comes down to personal taste. Me personally I would put him in my top 10, but not top 5.

Oh an speaking of Rakim, he said himself that Eminem is one of the best rappers out there in an interview once. Some idiot British guy said all Em's stuff sucked except "Stan" and Rakim totally defended him and seeing as Rakim's opinion is more important than a random Brit he pretty much won the argument, lol=)

Sell. He's incredibly overrated by a lot of people, especially on here, and I agree he's not really top 10. But there are more overrated rappers.

I think Biggie is probably the most overrated rapper ever. I have never seen a good explanation of how he is one of the top 2 rappers of all time (which is where he is rated). Seriously, his music didn't really do go beyond the themes of drugs, women, and money and he didn't really do anything that hadn't been done before by Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap. He has one amazing album, and one decent one. That's about it. His legendary status has a lot more to do with being a symbol for the East coast and New York hip hop than his catalogue of songs.

Sell. I agree he only has 1 classic, and is overrated by non-rap heads, but he IS nice. How many MC's have more than 1 legit classic anyway? Not too many. Rakim's considered the GOAT by most, but he's only got 6 CD's in 23 years, and only the 1st two are classics. The rest just mediocre. I don't think Em's better than Ra, but Rakim is more overrated. I agree with some of the comments above too. Pac was never considered in the argument of best while he was alive. He's been overrated in death. He was good, but not at all the best.

tru my fav albums by him were: marshall mathers lp and slim shady lp,but you gotta admit that crack a bottle wasn't good...and i wouldn't say hes the most overrated rapper EVER but he is overrated

Sell, Eminem is overrated, but not the most overrated rapper ever. People more overrated include:

- Lil Wayne (obviously not the best rapper alive)

- Jay-Z (biggest biter of rhymes in hip-hop history)

- 2Pac (he's great, but I say he's overrated because people call him the greatest ever, and he's not. better than most mainstream rappers today though)

I've noticed you lames on here over use the words overrated and classic alot but half the time ya'll don't know wtf u talkin' about! Em aint overrated and The Eminem Show is a classic IMO. That's all it is, opinions. Ya'll same the same sh*t daily. It's always the same people ya'll say is overrated and the same for the people you praise. Stop riding eachothers nizutz!

cmon hes not the best rapper, he cant freestyle, and he recycles all his content. Plus he;s stolen lots of beats, and lyrics.
