Transport to Llanberis Gwynedd from The Manchester Airport?

I am an American flying in to the Manchester Airport and I am reluctant to rent a car and drive to Llanberis because I am unfamiliar with the different roadways, signage and driving on the opposite side of the road.

I will not require a car once I am there because I will be bike riding and walking and running the majority of my stay. Can someone please tell me what is the most economical way I can get to Llanberis? Should I hire a cab or maybe go on Craigslist and see if someone offers that service. I will be traveling alone and I want the safest transport possible.

After I leave Llanberis I will then need to travel to London, and the same above question would apply there as well. Apologies for the lengthy question, and much thanks for any advice you can give me.

A cab to Llanberis would run into £100s (possibly £500+), and here in the UK, craigslist is rarely used so that won't really help. Your best bet is to get a train from the airport to Manchester Oxford, then onto Bangor (you may need to change at Crewe or Chester). Once in Bangor you'll need either a cab or go on the bus to get to Llanberis as its a little out of the way, not entirely sure but I think you may need to go via Caernarfon to get there.

In total, its a 5 hour journey and should cost around £70 per person.

Little tip about the busses, its best to go for the weekly ticket (£15) if your going to be using it alot while your over here, or if its just for the journey there, a day ticket (£5) Will save you a lot but the drivers won't tell you that ;)

From Manchester Airport take Swans Travel Bus #200 to Wilmslow station. This will take about 20 minutes. From there take the train to Bangor. You may need to change the train at one stop or two. This should take about 2-2:30 hours. At Bangor, you can catch a bus to Llanberis which is usually KMP Bus #85. This takes about 45 minutes. So with all transit times, you can make the journey in 4 hours.

For London, you need to take KMP Bus #86 back to Bangor (45 minutes), then catch a train to Euston station in London. You may need to change trains at Chester if no direct trains available. The train should take about 3:15-3:30 hours. So the whole trip can take 4:15-4:30 hours.

You'd have to either get a coach to Manchester, which will take hours, or get a train into London, the tube across London to Euston Station then the train from there to Manchester. Which will also take hours, though probably slightly less than the coach! I agree with the previous answer, it would be a lot easier to get an internal flight.

Train from Manchester Airport (no "the" required) to Manchester Piccadilly station, you may have to change platforms, depends on the train you catch from the airport.

Go to platform 14 to get the train to Llandudno, change there for a train to Bangor.

This gives you bus times from Bangor to Llanberis

A taxi ride from Bangor railway station to Llanberis takes twenty-five minutes and costs around £23

There are direct trains from Bangor to London Euston that take about 3 hours or so.....

    Enjoy your visit.
