Who walks barefoot in the grass?
Do you remember to put your hands on the grass too?
I just heard this is an ancient Indian remedy.

I feel safe walking on either one. My feet are very tough, I don't worry about glass at all. I walk and run through town and at the train station where there's lots of litter and broken glass several times a week, I rarely if ever divert my step, and I have NEVER had a cut, believe it or not! I get a tiny splinter maybe once a year, that's all... far less than I get scrapes on my hands from gardening. My feet are very tough and leathery (not hard, that'd cause cracks). I've only stepped on one bee in my life, long before I was a regular barefooter, and it was sitting on the tiles in the back yard rather than in the grass. Fortunately bees don't bother me much, I've been stung by many (other places of the body) and while the sting itself hurts, ten minutes later I can't tell where it happened. The greatest risk to bare feet I've encountered is not stepping on something but stubbing toes. Regular grass isn't a problem but very high wild growth or thick, fallen leaves might hide a tree stump or large rock. While the calluses get very thick, and the foot as a whole definitely does get a bit stronger than the foot of those who've been relying on shoes all their lives, if you slam your little toe into something solid, it'll hurt just as much after a lifetime of going barefoot as when you're normally shod. That isn't something you build up resistance against.
