food safety. if you buy chicken, put it in refrigerator, and don't use it right away, is it ok to freeze?
we just got our first apartment and don't know much about cooking. is it ok to freeze meat if you bought it refrigerated? how soon should you freeze it? how long does it last once it's in the freezer. is it safe to eat a week later? when you prepare it, how do you know it's fully cooked? how long should you cook it? do you need to wash the meat off in any way before cooking it? How do you prevent getting salmonella from chicken?

meat can be frozen within 3 days of purchase chicken straight awaymeat, chicken& fish should be used within 3 months of freezing,to cook meat the simplest way to know when it's fully cooked use the spring test, with 2 fingers in the middle of the meat push gently in the center it should spring back up when cooked or a sharp knife in the center clear liquid should come out, I'm talking about steak, roasts you looking at 1kg 2.2lb for 1hour at 180c or I think it's 350f.You don't have to wash meat off before cooking,if the chicken is slimey chuck it in the bin or if the flesh looks sweaty.

yes, you can freeze it. just don't thaw it out and REfreeze it. but when you freeze it depends on when you want to use it. if you want to use it within 48 hours, don't freeze it. if it's longer, freeze it. frozen meat will keep (technically) for around 4 months, but it may get freezer burnt and lose taste/texture and just be nearly inedible taste-wise. i wouldn't suggest more than 3 weeks or so for frozen meat.
as for when it's done, it shouldn't be pink at all... some of the dark meat close to the bone may look purple-ish, but never pink/red. you can't get salmonella from a fully cooked chicken... and i would suggest rinsing it before cooking.
lol i think i covered all the bases there. (:

So long as its been refrigerated & its not past its sell by date you can freeze it ideally you should freeze things as soon as possible if you are not eating them before use by date.it wiil keep in freezer for up to 6 months{it will last longer but this is reccommended time. When you want to eat it you must defrost it in fridge first, take it out of freezer day before you must not cook it partially frozen its might not cook properly. when defrosted rinse under cold running water & pat dry with kitchen roll prepare how you like then put into heated oven it depends how big it is as to how long it takes to cook but if you stick a skewer into the fattest part of the leg the juices should be clear. to prevent salmonnella is easywrap well keep refrigeratedor frozen till wanted defrost & cook properly.always clean boards Knives hands & surfaces

Usually we just go to the store, buy meat and when we get home we put it in the freezer. It can stay up to 1 - 2 months because it cannot go off since it's frozen.
I've even done this with other food, like I'll buy lamingtons and then just freeze them and when you microwave them or let them defrost on their own they taste as fresh as the day you bought them.

Trash it. Freezing would not end "rotting" as quickly because it starts off. It in simple terms keeps all the nasties suspended till you thaw it out and prepare dinner it later! Throwing a bad fowl out is greater inexpensive then a visit to the ER. cut back your loses.

You should freeze it. Make sure it properly wrapped. If you fridge it you would have to eat it in two days.
