Would you drink your own urine?

If you are suffering from an ailment and the cheapest way (and possibly an effective way) to cure it is to drink your first-morning urine, would you do it?

    With a heartfelt toast.

I shall drink to the gods of Olympus! I shall drink to John W. Armstrong, and he need not strong arm me into drinking my own stuff! I shall drink to urokinase, and to all aromatic enzymes the world over! Le C'haim! (To Life!!!) <and drinks!>

Gosh! This is some strong stuff!

It won't help you. Having said that, go for it. "Numerous survival instructors and guides,[2][3][4][5][6][7] including the US Army Field Manual,[8] advise against drinking urine for survival. These guides explain that drinking urine tends to worsen, rather than relieve dehydration due to the salts in it, and that urine should not be consumed in a survival situation, even when there is no other fluid available. Aron Ralston used the technique when trapped for several days with his arm under a boulder,[9] and Bear Grylls of the Discovery Channel's Man vs. Wild drank his own urine while he was in the Outback of Australia.[10] Les Stroud on Survivorman advised against drinking urine, instead producing fresh water from urine using a solar still.[11]"

  • It has no scientific basis that it can cure an ailment. And the remedy does not take into account the hazards that it brings with it such as virus and bacteria-related problems associated with handling and ingesting the material. So the answer is negative, a big NO.

No, if the only reason is because it is the cheapest way. If it is the only way to cure my ailment, yes I would of course.

Does your Pepsi lack pep? Is your Coke not the real thing? India's Hindu nationalist movement apparently has the answer: a new soft drink made from cow urine.
