Well, while it is historical fiction, Robert Graves' biographical novel King Jesus was thoroughly researched and offers some startling insights into the life of Christ. Of course there is some conjecture and shouldn't be read as 'fact.'

Anne Rice has been writing some novels on Jesus. I have not read them, however her writing is amazing.
