whats the dumbest thing you've said to a Drill Sergeant or an RDC?

i still have another month but im just curious to what others will say. my friend who graduated a while back said the very first day the RDC came up to him and said "What are you looking at private? do you find me attractive?" "No." "So you think im ugly?" "Thats not what i said sir" "Dids you just call me sir? well drop down and give me 20" "Thats All"

lol even today he tells me that was the biggest mistake of his life. every time they had to do pushups he had to do extra. but he says he still gets a kick out of it every now and then.

so whats yours? come on im sure someone has to have a good one somewhere.

thx

Navy Boot Camp, Orlando Florida, 1984. We were coming back form unsupervised liberty, we had to enter the barracks through the quarterdeck area, where the Barracks Duty Officer, one of the Company Commanders, was standing duty. The correct thing to say was 'Permission to cross the quarterdeck, sir.' We said 'Permission to cross the patio daddy-o', and for our trouble were allowed to do push ups until we couldn't do any more.

Mine had been tormenting me for a long weekend day with all kinds of annoying make work things. Finally he laughed and said: " Private, I bet when I'm dead you will come around to p*** on my grave."

"No Drill Sergeant" I replied. "If I get out of this army alive I will never ever stand in another line again."

The dumbest thing...? I know the worst thing. My GF sent me my sketch book, the DI asked if I was an artist. I said yes. Well, I got to paint the entire outside and inside of the barracks. I guess the dumbest thing was to ask if he wanted them green or brown.

Yes, never say "sorry" and NEVER say "Sorry Drill Sergent"

They think you are calling them sorry Drill Sergents... and you will push the earth until they are no longer sorry

Said "yes petty officer" when I should have said "yes chief". Realized my mistake somewhere around push-up 26 when I looked at the cuffs of his pants and realized they were khaki.

Other than that I kind of stayed below the radar.

Do yourself a favor and strike the phrase "I'm sorry" from your vocabulary and start saying "I apologize" instead. You say "I'm sorry" and you'll always get "yeah, you are pretty sorry, aren't you?" right back.

    Good luck.

I was a smart A** and they knew it once he asked "how long is a piece of string clever boy" answered 'twice as long as half it's length'

Way wrong answer don't remember much after that but there was a lot of shouting, running ,push ups etc etc

I'm leaving for the Navy March 30th so I'm wondering the same things.
