Who is the best Snowboarder in the World?

Okay, Travis Rice won Transworld Snowboarding's Rider of the year, Shaun White came in seventh. For me, it is all about style and attitude, not just spin to win like Shaun. Some of the people on my list are Travis Rice, Lucas Magoon, Danny Kass, Scotty Lago, Simon Chamberlain, and Eddie Wall, in that order.

Shaun white is just the most recognised snowboarder in the World, he is nowhere near as good as some riders. He is Burtons Poster Child, and he does a good job of that. You have to realise that a lot of snowboarders refuse to take part in competitions, so there goes many of the great riders. Shaun is only good at halfpipe, every other aspect of snowboarding he is average at best. Guys like Travis Rice, Terje haakonsen, Eero Ettala, Jussi Oksanen are all far better than him on rails, in the park in general, and most improtantly in the backcountry powder. Only the people who only watch commercials and competitions believe shaun is the best because he's the only snowboarder they know.

This question is kind of tough to answer because everyone will have their different opinion. I would say the best all-around snowboarder in the world is Terje Haakonsen. Transworld Snowboarding did a list of the Most Influential Snowvboarders of All-Time and they also listed Terje at #1. Shaun White, Travis Rice, and Kevin Pearce would also have to be considered, but sometime in the future. As of right now, my answer would be Terje.

Thought I'd ask. I get the feeling Shaun White will get almost every vote. He gets mine.

Depends on the type of riding you're looking at.

If you're talking about half pipe competitions then sure Shaun White, he has the medals to prove it.

If you're talking about slaying the killer backcountry chutes and launching to the moon off huge powder booters then I would go with Travis Rice or Jeremy Jones.

Rails and Jibs my personal favorite is Lucas Magoon he's a beast when it comes to rails.

Shaun whites good at what he does but that's pretty much it, he's not a backcountry rider and definitely not a jibber.

I think there will be a few Jeremy Jones in here.

I personally love Terje Haakonsen. ( I don't really know all that many snowboarders ) HOWEVER, he is still my favorite. He makes the hardest stuff in the world look so easy.

That just proves you have no idea what you are talking about. Sure he has a video game but that has no merit when we are talking about all mountain riding. Travis Rice is the most progressive rider on the mountain today. Tarje was and will be the most influential rider of all time. Craig Kelly has ridden some of the steepest mountains in the world. To say who is the best all around? Not for me to say but I can tell you for sure its not White.
