What does democracy mean?

I always thaught it meant the rule of the majority - Majority in a jewrey trial. Majoity votE in Houses of Parliament. If so, why do the MINORITY of Britian get treated more faverably. I CAN'T GET LEGAL AID BUT MY NEABOUR WHO IS A MINORITY CAN. HE PAYS NOTHING INTO THE COUNTRY I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF MY STATE PENTION

We tend to think that the majority voted a party in who would implement laws which would please the majority.

In reality, the majority of the vote from the minority who voted (because most don't give two hoots to vote) elect a party who do what they want and benefits the minority.

If you work and do well, you have to pay and support the down-and-outers, which is wrong.

Democracy is rule by the people. Plato did not like it either. Your complaining about free state money? If you lived in a meritocracy, neither of you would get a thing.

It means power is exercised by the people and/or by those they elect.

Yes, it means "majority rules," generally speaking.

However, it's based on principles of equal rights, which can result in minority "favoritism" at times.
