that model of scenic is fitted with an electric fuel pump which supplies fuel to the fuel filter. When you turn on the ignition the pump will run constantly for about one minute, and you should be able to feel it pumping the fuel through the fuel lines going to the filter. The filter is located on the left hand side under the bonnet just behind the headlamp ( it is a large round plastic filter). The fuel pump is located on the drivers side front chassis leg, but it is not easily accessible from under the bonnet. This is quite a common problem, the pump is about £180+ vat from a renault dealer.

It's probably electrical. I have a megane and they are reknowned for being plagued with problems especially electrical. Mine doesn't start first time at the moment so I'm going to buy one of those fault code readers. Think it is possibly to do with the TDC Sensor might need a newer one. My best advice is to see if there is a group for the Scenic. I always go to the Megane II Owners club forums lots of useful advice in there.

The variable valve timing is the cause of the noise. Usually if the noise is evident up to engine speeds of 1800 rpm it could be either the solenoid that operates the camshaft dephaser or the dephaser pulley itself. To confirm this is the cause of the noise simply disconnect the solenoid valve ( located just behind the oil filler cap on the engine ) and then start the engine, if the noise has gone the first step is to replace the solenoid valve, if noise is still present then a replacement dephaser pulley will be required.

run a live from the battery direct to the di cut off switch.you should hear a little click, this bypasses the ignition...if you loosen an injector pipe this will tell you if the di is getting through...also double check you've no water in your di filter[tap underneath]
