If the planet is actually warming...?
wouldn't you need to know what temperature the planet is supposed to be?
Earth is 4.5 billion years old, and we have recorded temperatures for
only 150 years or so. Computer 'models' use this data to PROVE? that
the earth is warming. What if it's supposed to be this warm, changing,
adapting as part of its evolution?
We are about to make EVERYTHING you buy, including all the energy you use cost about 50% more based on a THEORY that is at most 20 years old. In the 70s 'scientists' said we needed to pour soot on the north pole because the earth was cooling. Yet, another THEORY.
Is this government run amuck? The Lemmings game comes to mind.
Again, what is the temperature of the earth supposed to be?

charging people for ommisions that "supposably" hurt the earth and the earth can't deal with it is the biggest rip off in history that will tax the Americans out of their wallets like mad. Its the biggest scam one can do if you can persuade people to believe gobal warming exists.

Good point. We know the temperature fluctuates over the centuries. We can make fair estimates farther back than 150 years.
The issue is whether the present warming is caused by the inarguably higher level of CO2 in the atmosphere. Antarctic and Greenland core samples indicate elevated CO2 followed a temperature rise by about 200 years. Al Gore therefore may have reversed the cause-effect relationship.

We started taking the temperatures pre-industry, and temperatures didn't start really rising until after WW2.
And organisms, not planets, "evolve". Planets only react to stimuli through complex reactions within ecosystems, not on their own. Is Mars evolving? Evolving to what anyway?
We are destroying our planet. Sure, active human resistance should be factored into any gauge of what it will take to regain equilibrium, but why make it harder?
(EDIT: and a guy below me made a good point: Global warming won't necessarily mean warmer temperatures. disruption of the gulf stream will make the east coast, as well as Northern and central Europe MUCH colder.

I'm sure all the people with beach front property and those living along the Gulf of Mexico will be comforted as sea levels rise and hurricanes get stronger.
Two scientists pointed to a cooling trend and declared "global cooling" in the 1970's. But the theory was not broadly accepted or peer-reviewed scientifically. See, there is a process in science... and just because some guy thinks he achieved cold fusion in his lab based on a couple data points doesn't mean it is so. Global warming is vetted and accepted as occurring. And the absolutes you are pointing to are less important than the relative difference due to the modern distribution of human civilization.
I'm not God, so I don't know if global warming is human caused for sure. But, we can guess. We can roll the dice and see what happens when New York City, a major economic hub of America, starts to flood. Regardless, take some time to read up on how the actuaries of insurance companies are telling them not to issue new or renew hurricane insurance.
I don't care much for talk radio, TV, or political points of view. Actuaries are solidly based in facts, so I'll believe them that a major change is coming and the risk is massive. And let's face it, rigorous scientific thought is not a strong suit of most Americans.

It was generally 85-120 degrees and swampy/soupy enough to support GIANT DINOSAURS and REPTILES that were NOT warm-blooded animal, like we mammals -- that thrived when it got colder. Arguably, the earth is SUPPOSED to be 100-degrees, all the time -- since we know that a T-Rex alone for one species in one period, lived for MILLIONS of years... and us, just for 100,000+ maybe.
Global weather is dependent on the GLOBE.
We should reduce pollution -- but that would require Al Gore to name an actual COMPANY and pick a fight, something he hasn't yet done.

If it wasn't for global warming, the planet would still be in the ice age. It's the natural order of things. Where was Al Gore when I was up to my *** in record snow?

libtards have to have a agenda whether it makes since or not ... the earths average temp has dropped 1.4 degrees in the last decade and since that doesn't agree with gores global warming scenario they now say that global warming is now causing global cooling ..didnt they get the memo that too much pork was also bad for the enviroment
- Anonymous1 decade ago
nope, look at the global "warming" protest yesterday in D.C. It was snowing, God those people are nuts, they need to go read a science book then they would understand how carbon influences the Earth and that what they have been tricked into thinking is complete BS

It's darn cold here in Florida Keys> 62 If that's warming than let's warm it some more>

No. And God exists too. Also pigs can fly. Global warming is not literally global warming. One of the side effects to global warming is extreme bitter cold winters every once in a while. You guys are just too ignorant and lazy to research global warming further. You just take the meaning global warming analyze it for 2 seconds and assume it means warmer weather. Please go out and research this stuff by yourself, we're not your personal maids out there to fetch knowledge for you. Just look global warming on google or on howstuffworks.com, it'll take you 10 minutes.
