Guitar Shred Master *Jeff Loomis* vs. Guitar Bend Master *David Gilmour*?
I'm aiming to make this fairly difficult, so I hope the choice is. Obviously, both of these choices are near opposites of each other. On one end, we have Jeff Loomis, who has impeccable technique and is one of the cleanest sounding shredders in the industry. On the other end, we have Mr. David Gilmour, who also has impeccable technique and more feeling per note (FPN if you will) than most guitarists could even dream of being able to get.
So, which song do you like better? The shred master's, or the king of expression?
Jeff Loomis- 'Miles of Machines' (from his new solo album 'Zero Phase Order'

or
Pink Floyd- 'Marooned' (from the album 'The Division Bell')
Mason- First of all, I never mentioned the Comfortably Numb solo, which is why I said choose from between the two songs I posted. Secondly, did you even listen to the Jeff Loomis song? It's off one of the best shred records of all time.

I know you are looking for me to choose one or the other bro but I just cant do it. Both songs are incredible and serve a purpose in certain moods. For example if I am wigged out about something and need something to trigger an ethereal mood I would listen to Marooned. If I am in the mood for a musical intellectual challenge or just want to hear one of my top 2 favorite guitar players I would put in Miles Of Machines which is actually my favorite song on the album. The 2 songs serve a different purpose in my opinion and both are amazing pieces of music. Gilmour is a man of few notes but his work is just as Genius as Jeff Loomis in a different way. That's the beauty about art is being able to appreciate the unique or certain style of the artist without singling them out as being the better artist but having the choice to appreciate ones art more than another. That's whats so cool about free will to favorite something. But in this case I favorite both these artists pretty much the same.
Another phenomenal piece of music is Cluster One. Just absolute brilliance on the part of Gilmour and Wright

Jeff Loomis is more technical, but Gilmour pwns him in terms of composing solos, Gilmour has composed and made some fo the best solos ever made.
In terms of those, I might say Jeff Loomis wins however, Marooned is one of my least favorite Pink Floyd songs.

Wow... that is an amazingly hard choice.
I'm a huge fan of both's solo work and other bands.
But, I think I am going to go with David Gilmour. I am a big Nevermore fan, but Pink Floyd is a band that I like all their material, plus, the meotion Gilmour puts into his music is amazing.

Jeff Loomis
I'm glad you picked Miles of Machines best song by him I think
EDIT: I'm fairly sure Mason ignored the two vids you posted and since David Gilmour was in pink floyd he picked him.
