Major advice needed on hair dying.?

If the instructions say like "leave the dye in for an hour" or something, then leave it in for 45 minutes or something. The shorter you leave it in your hair, the less it will seep into your hair.

people use vasaline on there skin so the dye doesnt stain it, you coudl try just putting a little bit on the parts you want dyed, but it would be a pain to get out the greasyness. You can also just wash it immediatly after you put it in. Although this will make it very light and faded looking. You only live once, why not have a strand of pink hair or two for a month. I have had pink hair for the last 6 years. I can't imagine living without it!

first of all let me just warn you, having used semi-permanent dye myself.

it runs baaaaddddd! everything you own WILL turn pink (but prolly not as much since you are only doing a few strands and not your whole head) depending on the brand it fades pretty quick too. if you have naturally dark hair the pink won't show up very well if at all. the lighter your hair the better it will show up and the less you have to leave it on.

if you want it very bright I suggest putting it in covering your head in a shower cap (or something similar) and sleeping with the dye on your hair then when you wake up wash it out. get yourself some shampoo for color treated hair (even though the rest of your hair isn't dyed). try to wash your hair in as cold of water as you can stand. (I admit I can't adhere to this one even though I have dyed red hair. I can't stand cold water but if you can stand it I hear it works well).

Well since you have bought a permanent hair dye, if you want a hair dye that isn't permanent and you haven't used the permanent one then you could easily take the permanent one back to the shop. p.s. do not dye it too many times because your hair will fall out!
