You should try the Wild Wild West on W. Tropicana. It is a favorite for truck drivers so you know the food is cheap and good. The rooms are cheap because it is a motel rather than a hotel. The only way you can get comped is to spend lots of money gambling and it looks like you are going the cheap route so no comps for you.

I hit each hotel websites to find the best rate. The earlier you book the cheaper is it is.

I know Hooters is just off the strip and fairly cheap depending on when you are going.

If you want to go on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night, you can probably get it for $29-$49 per night. The nicer hotels may even have a special for people staying during the week. Go to MGM's website or any of the other hotels sites for specials like 'one free night' or 'free show' etc.
