How to remove heater core housing unit from 99 Chevy S10?
Where are the bolts to remove the heater core housing unit on this SOB '99 Chevy S10. There isn't a lot of information on how to completely remove it. I bought a Hayne's manual, but that didn't explain all the steps.
Note, I've already taken out the dash...I just need to know how to remove the housing unit. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Not in over my head. We figured it out. There were a few bolts securing the firewall under the hood...we had to reach down in at weird angles to get them, but got them using a couple of Macgyverisms with our tool sets.
Also had to remove black plastic part on the left side to get to the "impossible" bolt. I should do a video of this because no one can explain it exactly right...including myself. Thanks for your help.

one of the bolts that goes through the firewall is almost dead center with it this is the one most people miss taking loose, make sure you get all of them, i own a 95 model and its basically the same truck, once you remove those then there's a few things on the inside you have to remove also, take care not to pinch the lines from heater controls up it will damage them, the manual doesn't cover all that it should on doing this job, take your time especially when your putting it back in if you don't you,ll damage the new heater core, good luck.

Err the bolts that hold the evaporator case are under the dash against the firewall. There are only four screws that hold the heater core to the housing.
Sounds like you are way in over your head already.

you have to remove your complete dash to able to remove your heater core, your A/C blower box assembly on the fire wall doesn't house your heater core. your heater core is house behind the dash in side a large box with all the vent and stuff. get the repair manuel and follow the instructions to remove the dash. tips that are not on the book, you need to remove the cover that are above the dash and cover the windshield pillar or your will scratch them (i did) you also need to loosen you steering wheel column for those extra 3 inches you need to pull your dash, it only to nut that you need to remove. your also need to loosen up two bolts that are on the fire wall on the passenger side under your A/C box. you will spend a lot of time loosing up those to bolts, i had to crack open the heater core housing in order to squish my hand through to access those bolts (remove all bolts that hold it together). once you remove the dash and have access to the heater core housing careful not to mess with the vent vacuum system or your vent will not work properly

There should be three bolts that intrude into the engine compartment, remove the nuts on these and the unit should drop into the passsenger compartment.
