As a third generation minority immigrant. I am proud to call myself British. I study our hero's and try to follow their example. Guy Gibson (Dam Busters leader) had a pet dog and I intend to purchase a similar pet. Please tell me the name of Guy Gibson's dog so can call my dog the same name. Would the name of a pet of a British hero be offencive?

His dog's name was ******. I think it is not a good idea to name your dog same as his, realizing that some people think that word is a racial slur. You can name you pet with any name and it is not diminishing to your recognition of Guy Gibson and his Dam Busters. :-)

I am so sorry. I belong only to the "bakya" crowd, and as such, only familiar with Nora Aunor, or "Ate Guy". And though I am a fan, knowing her pet is more than I am willing to show my affections for.
Why don't you just name your pet "Ate Guy"?
