Sometimes irritation can look like infection.
Irritation usually is just red and sore.
With an infection it'll be red, sore and have either green or yellow pus coming out of it. If it is either irritated or infected you can do sea salt soaks to help get rid of it. Sea salt soaks is where you put about 1 teaspoon of sea salt to 1/4 a cup of warm water. Then you put it over your piercing. Most ppl use a cup.

usually if its infected, you just kind of know. when mine was, it was really red, a little swollen, and there can also be a pus-like fluid coming from either the piercing itself or close to the piercing. if ur still not sure if urs is infected, try looking up pics. that should help. good luck! : )
