Dog aggression...I have had my dad's dog here for 2 months, training her...?
she knows all her commands now and doesn't jump on everyone like she used to. At times she still gets excited and an occasion 'jump' will spring out. She just turned a year old, purebred Chow Chow...she is an alpha dog and was adopted at about 8 to 10 weeks. (too early) How can I get her to stop being aggressive PERIOD. She has become better while I have been working with her, but I am afraid to leave her alone with any children around as she just doesn't like to be petted. Any ideas ?

She's probably NEVER going to be trustworthy around children unsupervised. Ever.
Aggression has many factors. There are environmental factors to the behavior which can be managed by training and controlling the environment. However, there are also genetic factors over which you have no control. A certain degree of aggression is normal for this breed. Chow chows are NOT labs. And no dog, regardless of how non-aggressive they are is every completely trustworthy around children.

You say she is alpha and aggressive, how is this being demonstrated? Chows are never going to be Goldens, they tend be very aloof and not terribly sociable. It sounds like she also needs some desensitization and counter-conditioning work on being touched, and on being around children, and she may never be completely safe around them (I don't know that and can't know that, but it needs to be said.)
