What are those dust web type things that appear in the corners of the room?
They are not like spider webs and no spiders appear to live in them. They seem to like corners between ceiling and walls or behind furniture against the wall. They are easily removed with duster or vacuum cleaner
What are they, how are they formed and what are they called?

Cobwebs. Made by house spiders, show up when they get dusty. Every house which is lived in is dusty, no matter how much you clean it!

Certainly they are NOT crane fly (daddy long legs) webs as the crane fly has no need of a web (only lives to breed then it dies) so it does not need catch flies etc, additionally these "webs" occur all year round not just in late summer when crane flies are active (northern hemisphere).
These webs are purely dust in the atmosphere which electrostatically stick together forming long strands or "webs" in inaccessable places.
They are not the result of small creature activity, only human presence.

Start out by eleminating the normal possibilities. For instance, put a moue-trap in the corner for a ew days and see if it catches anything. Also, check the area for mouse droppings. If this doesn't work, and if your sure its not noisy water pipes or anything like that, then it might be something supernatural. If you think it is, then go and see a priest and ask for his advice.

They sound like daddy long leg spider webs. They make long string type webs, very fine.
