Bittorrent is a person to person file-sharing protocol not unlike the technology used in apps like Limewire.
It's a community based protocol in which someone uses a bittorrent client, like uTorrent to download a torrent file. This torrent file links you to a tracker, which is generally on the same server that you downloaded the file from.
The tracker links you up with everyone else who is currently seeding (uploading a full copy) or leeching (downloading and uploading an incomplete copy) of the file(s) you are trying to get.
It's very stable and fast because while you are downloading, you can also be uploading parts of the file you have already downloaded. This greatly increasing the amount of potential traffic.
It's customary to seed or upload a file after you are done to keep the torrent "healthy". 150-200% upload of the total file is customary before removing it.
You can also create your own torrent files using the client programs and uploading it to a site.
Some torrent sites/trackers are credit bases, meaning for every byte you upload, you may then download that byte. So if I have 32 gigacredits, I can download 32 gigabytes without having to download anything. They are generally harder to get into because you need to seed something that already exists on that site, which means you need to get it from another site.
A good example of a credits based site and my fav is tvtorrents.com

nicely they the two get the job carried out. i be attentive to this because of the fact I even have used them the two. U torrent is somewhat easier to apply because of the fact for me it grow to be much less puzzling to understand. Bit Torrent is noticeably complicated yet i think of it does a extra perfect job. So i'd say Bit Torrent, yet they the two get the job carried out nicely.

BitTorrent downloads files. Instead of downloading from one source, it downloads it from multiple sources.
Imagine a big puzzle, if one person was doing the puzzle, it would take a long time to put it together.
But, say that there were 10 people, and each person had a pile of the same puzzle and worked together to finish it, it would be done faster. That is BitTorrent.

It is against the law to download copyrighted torrents and you'll wind up in trouble. My spouse and i highly recommend utilizing a VPN service whenever accessing torrents. I'm using http://www.vpnmaster.org/ theyallow torrents on their European VPN servers.
