NCIS- How did Gibb's family die?

***He met his first wife, Shannon, while waiting at the Stillwater Train Platform in 1976, at which point she told him about her rules for life - these would inspire a similar set of rules which he would follow later in life. Shannon, along with their daughter Kelly, were murdered (by a Mexican drug dealer)while he was deployed for Operation Desert Storm.

During a flashback, it was shown that his wife and daughter witnessed a murder. While on their way to testify while in the company of federal marshals, the killer attacked and they both died in the crash.

No one will learn the answer until you see it on the screen in September. That is the purpose of filming the scene as it was.

They have not divulged the details yet. From his flashbacks, it seems they were shot or in an explosion.

I haven't watched much, but I think it was an explosion.
