How old is the average high school student at graduation in your country?
You might be surprised that not every country graduates at the same age. In the Philippines, high school's final year is grade 10, so the students are generally 15 or 16. That means half of the university students are literally children.
A "normal" college graduate in the Philippines is 20, although there are many "older" students. Half the college students in the Philippines are 15-17. Medical school begins, as in the United States, after graduation from college, although nurses begin in college. (You might be shocked that in Vietnam medical doctors do not go to college but go from high school into SIX YEARS OF MEDICAL SCHOOL with no residency or internship...)

In my country, the United States, the average student is 17 or 18, depending upon when his or her birthday is.
Here in the Philippines, as the asker said, the average student is 15 or 16.
In the last country where I lived, Vietnam, the average student is 18, since everyone gets a year older on January 1, not his/her birthday, and very few students fail a grade (which isn't such a good thing... I was a high school teacher in Vietnam!)

In Australia it is generally aged 17 years while in England students are usually 18 if they complete all their schooling.
In Queensland,Australia students used to be able to leave at 15 years without completing High school. Since 2008, they can only leave early if they have a confirmed job or they are doing a course at College or an apprenticeship.

In my state (Western Australia) we graduate at age 17 from year 12, however I know that in some of the eastern states it can be either 17 or 18.

You have the rest of your life to make your parents proud of you! Any more, just graduating high school is an accomplishment in itself. You got the diploma, that will do for right now. Pat yourself on the back for this one little victory, your life is just beginning!

In the UK, compulsary education ends at 16. The options are then to leave school, go to college to study a vocation, or go back to school for another two years to get additional qualifications which are typically used to get into university. Repeating years is extremely rare.
