Can anyone tell me the name of a decent scanner for a 2002 A6 3.0 that will actually read the whole code?

I need to buy a scanner that works. I really don't want to spend a lot of money on a snap-on. I only need for my car but I want my own. I don't want to go to the auto store when the light comes on. I bought a cheapy UIF on ebay - waste of money, I should have known better. Bottom line is It will cost what it will cost but I would like to the least expensive one that will work.

I bought one at Advance Auto for less then 100 US dollars, it does not give the the meaning of the error codes, nor does the code manual give me all the definitions either. However there are forums and sources on the internet that provides them. They also have units that will read real time. These come in handy if the problem is one that comes on now and then as they have a logger to keep track of intermittent errors that the computer clears out due to changing conditions.
