The Wii is the best video game console.
At Wal~Mart or nearby shops you can buy Wii points and classic controllers. Using these you can go to the Wii Shop channel and purchase games using your Wii Points.
There are two sections for games that you can download by buying the games with Wii Points:
Wii-Ware (Wii titles that cannot be bought in stores and are often played with the Wii Controller and Nunhuck but not a Classic Controller)
If you want a On-The-Go system then I recommend a DS but in General definitely the Wii
and
Virtual Console (These are games for past Nintendo Systems that can be bought with Wii Points and then played with a GameCube Controller or what I prefer; a classic Controller.)
Also Wii Games are awesome and they can help get exercise (such as Wii Fit and Wii Sports) and can be played for fun like regular games.
Hope I answered your question!

Hi Jimmy,
I have 3 children aged 6, 9 & 12.I have an Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii.For the younger children I definatley recommend the Nintendo Wii.This is the fastest growing game console, and is providing everyone with the ability of enjoying a complete game. To experience the best while playing Nintendo, you can begin by looking for the best deals available for this product.
Most of us already probably know, that this game console is different because of the handles that allow you to move while you play, creating the next step in games as well as in virtual reality. The sales statistics are mind boggling, and it shows why this is ahead of all other types of game consoles. Nintendo is now recognized as the game leader for the second year in a row.
The Nintendo video games that combine entertainment and fun in one gadget, includes several consoles that are added into the Nintendo games. Everything from Wii Fit, where you can play tennis to Yoga, to videos, Mario and others from an Internet channel can be connected to the Nintendo console system. This allows you to connect to multi-media, video, documentaries, games and even shopping.

If the console is for your kids, then get a Nintendo Wii. Its games are mostly kid-oriented, like the Mario series. If the console is for you, I'd suggest a PS3 or an Xbox 360. The games on those two are more teen and adult oriented, like Resident Evil 5 and the Call of Duty series. The Guitar Hero and Rock Band games are on all three, so it's just a matter of game play, quality, and pricing there.

Bleh. I feel that you cannot compare video game consoles, since they offer the same things. There is no best video game consoles, because fact would be based on opinions, so there is no fact. For kids, the most appropriate console would be the Wii. The motion control is very entertaining, and it has a broad spectrum of age groups that it appeals to. Although, before buying a game, look up the reviews because there are a ton of shovelware games out there. I suggest buying Mario Kart Wii first.

For real little kids the Wii works best considering once you get used to the controls it's pretty simple, the Wii mainly focuses on family games rather than the rated T and M. There's also the PS3 or XBox360 which also have games suitable for children but they mainly focus on the T and M titles. For the smaller children I say the Wii, that is for recent systems. If you prefer something cheaper such as an older system, about any Nintendo game system focuses on family/ kid games. Although in the end it's up to you.

Definitely the N64. When I was little I would spend hours on it playing Super Mario 64 and Diddy Kong Racing. It is by far the best and possibly most revolutionary consoles ever. I'm actually supposed to be getting a new one soon so I'm very excited to be able to relive my childhood and play all the great games I missed out on.

The question is really one of preference. Since you have two children I would suggest the Nintendo Wii. There's a great comparision between the 3 major systems on the page I've given below. You should be able to determine what console, games, and accessories will be best for your family.

xbox 360. Because the xbox 360 can play original xbox's games to but no't all of the xbox orignal games will work on the 360. but you need an update to play the original games. To get this update just hook up xbox live and it should automadicly update the 360. Also the xbox 360 can play dvd's so your kid's can watch movies in it. The xbox 360 comes with
1 xbox 360 controller
2 games come with it (with my xbox 360 my games were KungFu Panda and Lego Indiana jones)
1 ethernet cable just plug that into a router
1 headphones so you can talk to people on xbox live
that is what comes with it but the controller's are expencive kinda
i think the wired xbox 360 controller cost about $20
and the wireless cost about $40

In my opinion the:
Nintendo Wii created by Shigeru Myanmoto
Xbox 360 created by Bill Gates
try researching about these consoles and you might find what the best is.
