what in your mind warrants a report of a question or answer?
at what point do you feel you need to report a question or answer?
when its rude, completely obscene, or just users having fun???
im trying to figure this is out because apparently i need to do better in the wording of my questions and answers considering my violation notices are off the charts lately. so what SHOULDNT i be posting?

not something warrants violations anymore. The yamsters are displaying merely how stupid they're via distributing violations because of the fact somebody (in lots of circumstances with spite) comments them "merely because of the fact". This has been getting out of hand for months now.

Yep, Bizzurke you are right. NO MORE FUN! You will be darned to Hades if you even think of asking a question that doesn't have to do with breastfeeding, spanking, cloth diapering, or crying it out. Didn't you know? We have to appease the no fun Gods at Y!A somehow.
I report when a question or answer is very obscene to the point of being very offensive, cussing someone out, VERY mean to someone, or sometimes an answer that serves to no purpose, like when someone writes "NA" just for the 2 points (you know who I'm talking about!)
Lately I have had the least offensive questions deleted. Seriously, who reports a question that asks what the grossest thing in your fridge is? A person with no life and lots of misery, that's who.

I can't see any of your previous questions, so I can't answer about yours. Still, here is what I report...
Specific name calling against specific users....
Anything actually illegal (give your baby a joint, etc)
Trolls who post the same questions every single day and are obviously doing it NOT to get information. (i.e. Some people who seem to get off on spanking or ridiculous humiliations of children)
Also, if you get reported, you can ask Yahoo for a clarification of why, and can dispute the report. I post semi-frequently in the adoption section which is very VERY heated. My opinions are often unpopular, and I've been reported more than once for people just not liking what I say. I've questioned the reports and gotten Yahoo to reverse their decisions usually.

when there is a link to pornography, especially if its child pornography. too many little kids on here that don't need to go to those links. and although i do think they need to be double checking age and raising it to 16 with a valid, confirmed d.l. number to make sure its not an 8 year old claiming they are 13, unfortunately little 13 year olds are still on here, and much younger liars that claim they are 13 when they sign up

people are always reporting me for asking or answereing questions that dont violate the rules or terms in any way. i dont know why other than they dont like other people to have different opinions or beliefs basically. Dont worry about them, to me, it means that i got under their skin and thats all that matters :) its not the end of the world. u will be amazed how fun it actually is to build a new account. lol
to answer your original question: i will only report someone if they are being completely vulgar or obsene.
*from what i can tell, there are about 5 or more of those report happy people we speak of posting here and expressing their thumbs-down powers. :)

I have never reported anyone. Never have, never will. Unless they try to steal my woman away from me. If we can't settle it in court, then I be oh so fast to stick my pretty little finger on the repo button!

When I find something particularly offensive - whether it's foul language used to insult someone else who is asking a legit question, or comments made in extreme poor taste (like 'why don't you get an abortion?' comments for moms who have questions about their pregnancy, etc.). Obvious spam is another, although it has to be something over the top and not just the run-of-the-mill 'how is babby formed?' crap. Like a former user who had a penchant for repeat answers about how great formula was instead of breastmilk - I report those, too, simply because it's repeated spam and a PITA.
I hope this doesn't make me sound like I report questions a lot LOL because I really don't. Usually just from ******* or trolls. :) Of which you are neither, so it wasn't me! :D

The first answer seems to be a good one to report.
However I don't think it matters how you word your answers/questions there where always be someone out there who reports you.
Example, I have been reported twice for stating my opinion, and then my wife turns around answering questions in mainly the female health section and gets suspended with no warning or explanation.
I report people who are spaming or just down right rude, like calling the asker stupid or posting fowl language on the answer that doesn't pertain to the question asked.
Good Luck!

The only thing I ever report are threats, someone told someone else they hoped their baby would die, and I reported that. Which I think should have been reported. Other then that I don't ever report. Sadly people report me all the time, and I have no reason why? My questions get deleted all the time, and my old account got deleted too. I think people just get "report happy" and if you make them mad once then they continue to report you for everything.

Have you prostrated yourself in the direction of Sunnyvale, CA and prayed to Y!A powers that be today? No? Well, there's your problem right there! Jeesh, what's wrong with you? Don't you know that you have to offer sacrifices to David Filo & Jerry Yang (founders of Yahoo!) as well as Carol Bartz (CEO of Yahoo!) at least twice a week (I do it every day, just to be safe)?? Get crackin' girl!!
LoL....Listen, there's gonna be a party pooper every day and at least 1 (if not quite a few more) of us "regulars" are going to be in their sight lines, so there's not much we can do about it. Just grin and bear it. Try not to let the haters get you down!
