Distance when taking eye test.?

I have to retake may eye test for Law Enforcement test. What is the distance from the chart when taking the test? I need to be 20/40 in both eyes and 20/20 corrected. What line number represents each? At least then I will know when I retake how blind I really am.

The 20/20 letters are 5 minutes of angle high. about 9mm high at 20 feet.

The distance is often about 15 feet.

20/40 letters are twice as tall.

They want you to have 20/40 so that you will be able to see some and be able to drive without glasses.

Ask your doctor about it next time you go or see an Optometrist.
