Propaganda. Those countries (at least Germany) were in the depression (it was related to the U.S.s too) and the Treaty of Versailles. After which Hitler gave people hope, he was a Doer...he did things that people thought might help their country, and once he was in power..he told people (even after there were Allied troops in Germany) that the war was in favor of the Germans, and they didn't know ANYTHING about the heinous war crimes or the holocaust that Hitler did...same with the Russians and Stalin, same with the Italians, except the Italians wised up and took over Mussolini's power, executed him, and helped rid Italy of the Axis invaders.
