Who are the idiots behind the AIG bonuses?
Sounds like a winning business venture. Give bonus packages to employees that have led the company into bankruptcy. Who are these idiots, publish their names and let the world know who the real jerks are.

The root of the problem lies with Congress. Congress shoveled out the bailout dollars in a panic. Step back a few months ago, Congress was convinced the world was going to come to an end within days. So what do they do? They pass legislation (that nobody read) handing out billions to any financial institution that would take it and they never thought to think it through. Never thought that there should be some examination of how the money was to be used.
Instead it was "Here take these billions of dollars no strings attached". Your representatives at work protecting your interest? Protecting your money?
Congress takes no responsibility in the whole mess, they deflect criticism to the executives of AIG when in reality it was their own hasty and short sighted action that allowed these bonuses to go through without restriction. In the theater of the absurd they are grilling Edward Liddy who is the government approved replacement CEO.
Congress acts like they are innocent bystanders. Now it turns out Congress knew about the coming bonus payments all along and made accomodations to allow the bonus payments in the original bailout legislation. Maybe they should be grilling Senator Chris Dodd who crafted the bailout legislation. First Dodd said he did not change the legislation's wording to allow the bonus payments. Then he said couldn't understand how the wording was changed, he didn't know who changed it. Later, he somehow remembered that he changed it at the insistence of the Obama administration.
Then there are those who want to see the federal government take over U.S. health care system. Geez.
