Got robbed in my hotel parking lot. I was'nt in country for 30 min.
ALWAYS watch in all directions..........ALWAYS protect your valuables...........ALWAYS leave your valuables money, pasport, ID's (bring a copy) credit and debit cards (only bring enough cash for the day).........in the safe at the hotel or a secure place where your staying.
They were on me so fast I did'nt know what hit me. I'm a world travler. Ist time robbed. They work in pairs called coyotes.........they are everywhere in San Jose.

Yes. The inside information is get to the outside of San Jose as soon as possible. I would spend as little time there as possible. It's dangerous, dirty and offers nothing of any consequence from a tourism standpoint.
San Jose is a poor exaple and first impression of Costa Rica as the rest of the country other than Limon, is wonderful.

I am an American expat living and working in Latin America and I have found that the best place for information on travel through this part of the world is on Viva Travel guides, here is a link to their Costa Rica page:

You'll need to be a little more specific. It is the capital of the country and the area of the greatest amount of urban development.
