I've never met a Chihuahua that didn't cower in fear around strangers or try to nip the hands of any person trying to pet it... Doesn't seem like the friendliest of companion dogs... As for gifting a dog to a teenager, the French Bulldog is definitely not a dog for an adolescent and no reputable or ethical breeder would sell a dog that intended to give the dog to a teen... These dogs require special care and handling, they have need of weekly ear, facial fold cleaning, and need to be wiped and checked daily... Teens at that age start to become interested in their social lives, talking on the phone all hours, and can become lax in the upkeep and care of a beloved pet... French Bulldogs can be stubborn and challenging (especially for those who don't know how to house-break or obedience-train a dog)... Expect to pay upwards of $2500 to $3500 for a well-bred French Bulldog from a reputable hobby-breeder... If you purchase a dog from a store, a backyard breeder, or a puppy-miller, you're literally playing Russian Roulette with your wallet as you could wind up with a sickly and ill-bred dog with any number of health issues and needing costly surgeries or lifelong allergy treatments...

And French Bulldogs are not a "small breed"... They can weigh up to 28 or more pounds, they're very top-heavy, can pull like ox, and must be handled extremely carefully due to the nature of their spines...

Good luck in your endeavors : )
